The huge complex, home to the “Citadel of the Authorities”, stands on an area of 70’000 sq. m, once occupied by the ceramics factory founded by Graziano Appiani. The area is characterized by its peculiar position with respect to the urban centre, set at approx. 400 meters from the sixteenth-century walls that delimit the historical centre. The project envisages the construction of a four-storey building for administrative and commercial activities overlooking the main pedestrian entrance from the urban centre; two central eight-storey buildings for residential purposes and four radial eight-storey buildings with the main city institutions. It has been also designed an auditorium with more than 500 seats and a small chapel. The big plaza characterized by a spectacular fountain and a rose garden on the eastern side is the heart of the complex. At the service of the new area there is a network of almost 2000 car parks.
